Philadelphia!
The Piers Marina
We've arrived at our final destination! Philadelphia. Since our last posting, well, Kit Kat's last posting, we've visited friends in Norfolk and Deltaville, VA; sailed north up the Chesapeake Bay via Tangier Island, Solomon's Island (the BEST crab cakes ever), to Annapolis where we were anchored for two weeks. Kristen flew back to the Virgin Islands to work as first mate on s/y Felicia and Hans flew to Barbados to photograph a wedding. No matter how hard we try, we can't really leave the Caribbean! It took two days to sail up to Philadelphia from Annapolis; we arrived at 8PM on Sunday. We are tied up to our new home at the Pier's Marina right in downtown Philadelphia. It's a great location, just a two minute walk from the Old City, 5 minutes from Center City and a bike ride for Hans to Temple. He starts classes on Monday.
Our cruise is over: we're connected to shore power, but we're not swallowing the anchor yet. We plan on living aboard at the marina on Whisper or a slightly bigger boat for the near future. We're both excited about the new prospects that lie ahead in Philadelphia but also a little daunted by the change in lifestyle.
This will be our last Log of Whisper posting. Thanks for reading and for all the comments. It's been great for us to keep a blog for our memories, and knowing that you all were avid readers encouraged us to keep posting. If you ever find yourselves in Philadelphia, get in touch!

Whaaa! Jim & Wendy just got to St. Kitts. You should be here too! Gotta feel weird to be back into the States, and in a big place like Philly, no less. Good job and good luck to you both. We'll miss you and hope you come visit when winter comes again and you've had enough of dodging icicles on Whisper.
I am sad and excited for you! I think you should continue to have a blog though, as it's a great way to see what's going on in your lives. I have loved checking this site every few days and loved seeing pictures. I hope you'll keep in touch!!!
Welcome to Philadelphia! Funny, I stumbled upon your blog last night and here you are in my home town. Great stories, inspiring adventure, cool boat.
Enjoy philly. Temple rocks. And / but, if I may be so presumptuous . . . Kristen, unless you know why you want to be a lawyer and exactly what job (practicing law) you want when you are done then stay away from L-school and find a different path. And hey, I might be wrong!

We're so glad to have you in Philly, H, K, & Kitkat! But my vote is to keep the blog alive, echoing Serena's post. It's great to read up on your adventures, and writing might turn out to be great therapy, too, as you cope with a renewed land-lubber lifestyle.

I have been following your blog, and wanted to say hello. My husband and I live in Vermont (just north of Rutland). If you get to VT and have some time to get together we would love to buy you a meal - we are in the process of selling our house and moving onto our sailboat which is currently on Lake Champlain. We plan to cruise the east coast this fall if we can get everything done in time. Your blog has been helpful to read! Thank you for sharing your journey!
